MOSUL AFTER THE WAR
ANNE POIRET | 2019 | FRANCIA | 60'
After 9 months of devastating civil war, Mosul was finally liberated from ISIS. A symbolically significant city, Mosul is where the Caliphate was proclaimed and remains the second largest city in Iraq.
For a year, we followed the Iraqis’ efforts to rebuild their city. Rebuilding Mosul documents the difficulties faced by the 2 million inhabitants of Mosul after being freed from the oppressive rule of the Islamic State. We follow the laxity of the Iraqi administration, the concerns of the international community and the threat of ISIS’ return.
