LA VITA CHE NON CIE - L’AMORE AI TEMPI DELLA FRONTIERA
ALEXANDRA D’ONOFRIO
ITALIA | 2012 | 20’ | TTFF12
We always do everything possible to interpose unbridgeable distance between "us" and "them." They flee hunger, war, despair. They are displaced, refugees, illegal immigrants. And so in the end we don’t think any more about ordinary things. As desire, folly of youth, adventure and why not love. Who would have thought, for example, that behind the most violent uprising of the center for identification and expulsion of Chinisia, in Trapani, there was a beautiful and moving love story? We got there a bit by chance and we decided to follow that story and make it a movie. With an audio recorder, a camera and the archive of videos shot with the cell phones of Winny and Nizar, the two protagonists of the movie.
Alexandra D'Onofrio, director and anthropologist, was born in London from Greek mother and Italian father. Graduate in anthropology at SOAS University of London, she collaborated with the Asnada School of Italian in Milan and now she runs Theater of the Oppressed workshops.
