Chacabana explores the topic of gender identity in the Dominican Republic. The 'transgender' people are socially different from the others and rejected by the society. They struggle to maintain their rights.

Carlos Rodriguez, born in 1985, is a visual artist , photographer and filmmaker. He graduated from the University of Santo Domingo. He is artist in residence at The New York University, where he manages photographic projects and social services . He works with several non-profit organizations: AIDS Walk NY, Creative Arts Workshops for Kids and Yspaniola.
