WHEN I WAS A BOY, I WAS A GIRL
Ivana Todorovic | Serbia | 2013 | 30'
Goca is a transvestite from Belgrade, the capital of a country in which it is illegal to organise or attend a gay pride event. Although her boyfriend doesn’t respect her, Goca still loves her and does everything to make sure that she is cheerful and open. On the day of her 39th birthday, she decides do celebrate her coming out on a stage, before the public. She thus tells the story of her life to the audience: “When I was a boy, I was a girl”. A few months after the production of the film, Goca started to work as an activist for transexual rights in Serbia, and founded the “Hestija” association.
