L'ISOLA
Francesca Cogni | Italy | 2013 | 30'
A sea voyage full of expectations concludes upon reaching dry land, clashing with the adamancy and absurdity of its laws and institutions.
Shot in Super8, videos and animated cartoons, "L'isola" is focused on the migrations in the Mediterrean and tries to give image and shape to what is often overlooked by the news.
"L'isola" is a self-produced film, supported by crowdsourcing to test alternative means of financing cultural production and movie distribution.
Francesca Cogni is an artist, entertainer, animator and video maker. In 2008 she founded, together with Donatello De Mattia, the cultural association TooA – Trans office for open Art. For many years she has been working on the subjects of migration, cultural exchanges and changes in contemporary society through the use of artistic language. She's author, among other works, of "42 Storie da un edificio mondo".
