On the snowy slopes of the upper Val di Susa dozens of men and women try every day to challenge the Alps to reach France in search of something different, perhaps better, driven by the force of freedom and dignity. The Milky Way is a documentary film that aims to tell the border areas of the western Alps between Italy and France, in relation to the people who cross it and the inhabitants who live it, in a sort of parallel between "yesterday" and "Today", in a scheme that is often overlapping and that reproduces with almost the same dynamics despite the passage of time. To do this we have chosen to use different styles and techniques, starting from the drawing and traditional animation that will play a central role in the story, a real challenge in terms of narrative, technical and production, but that we want to face conscious of need to experiment and find new forms of narration inside and outside the genre of social documentary.
