Icare, nicknamed Zucchini, is a 9 year old child who, after the death of her mother, is sent to live in a family-home. Thanks to the friendship of a group of peers, other abandoned minors, including sweet Camille, will succeed in overcoming every difficulty, embracing a new life. Based on the novel Autobiography of a zucchini by Gilles Paris (then re-edited with the title of the film), it represents Claude Barras' debut in feature film and is realized in animation at step one. The film was shoot at Villeurbanne's Pôle Pixel just thirty seconds per day, thanks to nine animators who worked simultaneously on fifteen different sets.
Claudia Barras was born in 1973 in Sierre, Switzerland, he studied illustration and computer graphics at the École Emile Cohl in Lyon and at the Ecal Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne, which also produced his first works. Thanks to the short film The Genie in Ravioli Can shoot in stop-motion, he has a great success at festivals around the world, becoming a leading animator in Switzerland and France. My Zucchini life is his first feature film and, thanks to his enthusiastic welcome at festivals such as Cannes, Annecy and San Sebastian, it has consecrated him definitively.
