INNER ME
ANTONIO SPANÒ
REP. DEMOCRATICA DEL CONGO | 2016 | 30'
Butembo, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo: following the curious wandering of a young girl among crowded markets, slaughterhouses, furnaces and bats hunters, we meet three women; their lives tell the difficulties of being women and deaf in a society that is hostile to both conditions. The stories of Immaculée, Sylvie and Stuka are common stories, of daily trouble and struggle against abuse and oppression. But in their state of last of the last, these women tell, even and above all, the stubborn will to recapture every morning the uncertain threads of their destiny.
Antonio Spano graduates from Siena University of Law and choose to abandon his career to follow his passion as a documentary filmmaker. At 22-year-old he went in Kurdistan, Iraq, for his first experience as an independent filmmaker. His previous works “The Silent Chaos” and “Animal Park”, both set in Congo, are among the most prized Italian documentaries of 2013 and 2014. Both are have been distributed by Journeyman Pictures and have been widespread in many countries of the world. Antonio also worked as a cameraman in Aghanistan, Libya and Haiti for television productions, reportages and films. He is currently working as freelancer.
