The Petra deserts, in Jordan. At Modi’s house, with her Bedouin family, Modi is struggling to decide whether to stay in her modest home or move to the city. This short documentary made its debut in 2012 at the oldest film festival for Nordic cinema, the 42nd Tampere Film Festival. It was also the only Jordanian film to be shown at Cannes, in the short film category in May 2012. It won the jury prize for best short documentary film at the 18th Franco-Arab Film Festival. Currently, the documentary is touring at numerous film festivals, and enjoying national and international fame.
Said Najmi was born in Saudi Arabia and grew up in Jordon. He studied for a degree in Multimedia Technology in the United Kingdom, before beginning her career in cinema at a workshop in Amman (Jordan) in 2007. He won a scholarship to study for a Masters in Cinematic Arts by the Red Sea in 2008. He has produced several short films, which have been shown at various international festivals. The short film which he produced for his graduation, "Al Nai" (“The Flute”) won the prize for Best Photography in Tokyo in 2010, received a special mention in Beirut and has been shown at dozens of international festivals. Said teaches filmmaking, directing and editing in Jordan, and he works as a freelance director.
