TERRAPROMESSA
Mario Leombruno e Luca Romano | Italy | 2013 | 26'
In an enclosure 400 Rom live in the center of an area which has become the symbol of environmental disaster in Campania. A provisional field built by the Town Hall of Giugliano and costed around 400 thousand euros. Three centimeters of gravel and asphalt to separate a human settling from the field where legal and illegal wastes have been ammassed during the last years. The inhabitants of the fiels are afraid, they fear for the health of their own child, they ask for help from the institutions. They have been settled into the province in the north of Naples for thirty years, yet there has been no improvement of living conditions, recognition of rights and dignity. A condition that a Rom describes this way: "We are the last nation on Earth, I know that my people are poor, we live miserably in bad conditions, but we are humans, too."
Mario Leombruno and Luca Romano are two young freelance journalists and videomaker. Together they have given life to the project "Laptopreporter", an experience of video-journalism realized with essential technologies. Good shoes, a digital videocamera and a laptop to tell facts and histories in an independent way. They have realized documentaries for RAI programs such as "La Storia Siamo Noi" and their works have been projected during national and international festivals. Their articles from Italy and from other countries have appeared on daily papers, local and national magazines. Their work is focused on migrations and social issues.
