Miko Meloni | Italy | 2014 | 50' | out of competition
Can you get rid of poverty? Overcoming the excessive market's demands and the exorbitant requests of the banks? How can we create opportunities in contexts of extreme economic deprivation? A visit to the four corners of the planet (Bangladesh, Mozambique, Tunisia and Ecuador) in search for different experiences of microfinance, for creating an educational programme focused on microcredit to be realized in European schools.
Miko Meloni, specializing in the production of social documentaries, is the author, among other works, of "Indignados. Como nace una protesta" (2011), selected for the LIDF London International Documentary Festival 2012, and "Alpaqueros de Apurimac", achieved with the NGO GVC and selected to DocInTour.
Teaching Microcredit is a project implemented by GVC that through the inclusion of the knowledge, methods and ethical values of microcredit in secondary school's programs, aims to raise awareness of development issues and educate the youngsters to a new ethic helping to create fairer relations between developed and developing countries.
The project is implemented in cooperation with: European Commission (Code DCI NSA ED / 2012 / 281-479), Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano, Baptista Szeretetszolgálat Alapítvány, Corvinus University of Budapest, Asociación Consorcio de Cooperación.
