MODOU MODOU

Virginia Manchado | Spain | 2013 | 11'

"Modou Modou" tells the daily lives of African migrants living in Europe. On one side the inhabitants of the host countries often forget that migrants perform those despised jobs by the local population. On the other side, migrant's relatives remained in their countries of origin are not aware of the working conditions faced by the emigrated relatives. The intent of the short film is to document the lives of many people migrating to improve their living conditions and the daily life of their families, documenting the suffering also related to the distance from their countries and their beloved. It's a daily struggle to assert themselves and to ensure decent living conditions for themselves and for their families.

Virginia Manchado was born in Lanzarote, Spain, in 1974.
