MAPUTO - A LOW BUDGET DREAM
Mario Martinazzi | Mozambique | 2014 | 60'
There was once a beautiful town which arose from the sea. The wind blows in town: it's a wind of change, a wind that has always been there and that is destined to remain, as sentence of perpetual and continuous change. Mambucho, our narrator, warns the urgency to tell his city, what it has been, what it is, what it will be. He does it from the ruins of an old bullfight: it's his theatre, but there's no one to listen to him. Maputo is a town in ferment, with a strong economic growth. But what is Maputo? It's the congested and modern city that you can see in television or the boundless expanse of slums that surround it? African reality turns out as a chaotic cosmos, without any order, what remains in the end is what you can see: a young town that changes, evolves and advances toward a future, perhaps, brighter.
