JUST ABOUT MY FINGERS - STORIE DI CONFINI E IMPRONTE DIGITALI
Paolo Martino | Italy | 2012 | 40'
"Just About my Fingers" tells the life of 'boys of the net', young people compelled to spend the best years looking for a dream called 'Europe'. Mussa Khan is a 'muhajır', a refugee looking for a safe place where to live. His story is one of many Afghans that every year leave their families and go through thousands of kilometres to apply for asylum in Europe. Mussa Khan is just a boy, but following his tracks means running across a whole moving world of stories, hopes, and people. To realize this reportage, published in episodes, the author travelled for two months along migrants’ routes through Turkey, Greece and Italy; he visited twenty different associations; he interviewed police officers, truck drivers, ships’ crews, he met traders, traffickers, counterfeiters and intermediaries.
Paolo Martino is a reporter. He deals with migrations, minorities and asylum policies. For years, he has been living and working in the Middle East, between journalism and cooperation. In 2011 he wins the “Together against discrimination” EU Journalist Award, following the route of afghan refugees from Kurdistan to Italy. News correspondent for "Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso”, he works with "Lettera Internazionale" and "Osservatorio Iraq". In 2014 he realises "Terra di transito".
