“At the Ball of Fortune” is a documentary film about the daily life of nomad Indians. Every day, they go to the coast, where they whisper the music of their hearts. Denis Kurochka was in charge of the idea, the script, the direction and the photography. The film has received numerous prizes and acknowledgements at national and international festivals: the Audience prize at the “Autunno Kinofest”, as well as the prize for “Best musical score” at the “Short Film Festival Provzglyad”. The film continues to be shown at numerous festivals in Russia and further afield.
Denis Kurochka is a Russian director and actor. Born in Moscow on the 3rd May 1982, he graduated from the theatre school Schepkin in Cinema, theatre and acting. After his degree at the Institute of Cinematography, he joined the theatre company Maly in 2005. He has acted in several films, and makes his directorial debut with “At the Ball of Fortune”. In autumn 2013 he completed filming on his short film “With an Open Heart”, which premiered in Portugal at the international film festival PORTO7. In 2014 he finished work on the film “Una nostalgia ideale”.
