Come gli uccelli – La rue à Kinshasa
Adriano Foraggio | 2012 | Congo/Italy | 29’
In Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo, there are about 25000 homeless children, abandoned by their families or obliged to live in the streets because of extreme poverty. There are also many majors, "adults" sharing these same non-places where to live. In this context of social exclusion different defense and redemption strategies are putted into action, related to the self-organization of places, relations, equilibria. Children and youngsters living in the streets participate actively to the society, reacting to different effects of political, economical and socio-anthropological realities on a local level. The documentary deepens these issues and tells us their survival strategies through the stories of young people grown up in the streets, through old people's memories and music, no one excluded.
Adriano Foraggio, born in 1984, after having obtained a degree in Development and International Cooperation, links his passion for photography and documentary, developed during different travels in Europe, Asia and Africa, together with his interest for International Cooperation and Cultural Anthropology of developing countries. After Questo è il mio Paese, mi chiamo Ngoino, this is his second work.
