La terra (e)strema
Enrico Montalbano, Angela Giardina, Ilaria Sposito | 2009 | Italia | 55’
The story of "La terra (e)strema" runs from east to west of Sicily, on the territories of the great seasonal collections, a journey between old and new farmers on the island: from Pachino, known for its tomatoes, to Vittoria (Ragusa); from the village of Cassibile, a suburb of Syracuse, up to Alcamo e Campobello of Mazara, Trapani. It 'a story of the campaigns and persons that compose the production and the agricultural system, persons who have become invisible to the metropolitan and urban world: the small producer, who becomes a farmer himself, the foreign farmer, the migrant who works for a penny and in most cases without a contract, homeless and forced to fall back to an ambiguous and hypocritical host system.
