‘Torre 8’ is a district in the suburbs of Montevideo, Uruguay. It is a settlement that exist for more than 10 years. The sanitary and lodging conditions of the families are precarious. Besides the contamination of the ground that causes an increase in the level of lead in the children’s blood, there is also the problem of the high voltage pylons. 120 families, including about 300 children, live in Torre 8 where the majority lives of the recycling of garbage. This district is a huge dump, where recyclers sort the waste just aside their houses. The waste are accumulated and get rotten in the sun. Gabriel is 11 years old and lives in Torre 8.
