KOSOVO VERSUS KOSOVO
Valerio Bassan, Andrea Legni | Italy | 2012 | 52'
Thirteen years after the war, the areas inhabited by Serbs in the now independent Kosovo have created a real "State inside the State". There are small "enclaves" on which the government of Kosovo has no authority. The inhabitants of these areas vote mayors acknowledged only by themselves, they use their own currency, have infrastructures, schools and hospitals directly managed from Belgrade. But they live with no freedom of movement and no work, avoiding entering the Albanian cities for fear of aggressions. This situation has caused over two hundred thousand Serbs to leave Kosovo.
"Kosovo Versus Kosovo", an independent self-produced documentary, delves into a reality forgotten by Western media, for witnessing the reality of Serb "enclaves" in Kosovo and the living conditions of their inhabitants. The movie was made knowing the necessity of referring to European authorities and information organisations.
A freelance journalist and videomaker, Andrea Legni deals primarily in articles and videoreportages on social themes. "Kosovo Versus Kosovo" is his first documentary.
A professional journalist, Valerio Bassan lives in Berlin, where he works with various Italian online newspapers. He has founded and directs Il Mitte, the only Italian newspaper in Berlin. "Kosovo Versus Kosovo" is his first documentary.
