Every year thousands of West Africans migrate to Europe in search of a better life. But for some of them that search will end in tragedy, as they fall victim to competing mafia gangs that prey on the hopes of the desperate. In southern Italy, Nigerian women are among the most exploited, with many ending up trapped in the nightmare world of the sex trade. Finalists documentary at Ilaria Alpi Award 2012.
Chiara Caprio is a video producer at Vice Italia. She has produced films for Al Jazeera and she has collaborated with Monocle Radio. She writes for Corriere.it, The indipendent, Mail On Sunday and The Observer.
Juliana Ruhfus is chief reporter of People &Power. She is producer and inquiry reporter.
Orlando Von Einsiedel is the Grain Media studio director and creator. He won several awards with the documentary "Skateistan".
Screening in the frame of TTFF INCONTRA ILARIA ALPI
The Award is dedicated to the italian correspondent who was killed in Somalia toghether with the freelance operator Miran Hrovatin on 20th march 1994. It was created in 1995 by the cultural association "Comunità Aperta di Riccione" and it is one of the most important appointment to debate on journalistic inquiry.
