E-wasteland

David Fedele | 2012 | Australia/Ghana | 20’

Almost 50 millions of tones of e-waste (electronic rubbish) are being produced every year in the world. A big quantity of used electronic goods arrive in developing countries from the “developed world” under the form of electronic rubbish, illegally exported as “second hand goods”. The movie offers a panoramic of the bad-regulated system of electronic goods’ recycle in Ghana, where the electronic machinery is seen not for what it has been but for what it has become.

David Fedele, australian film maker, self produces and self finances his projects, with a particular interest in questions related to cultural, humanitarian and social justice. His short film was produced after a three months travel through Papua New Guinea  and won the Best Documentary award at the Film Festival Portobello 2010. David returns in Papua New Guinea in 2011 to produce Bikpela Bagarap, nominee as Best Feature Film at Film Festival Reel Earth Environment in 2012 in New Zealand.
