« When an old man dies, it’s a library that burns » Amadou Hampâté Bâ
These words of the famous Malian writer are the most accurate to introduce Halidou Maïga, who was deputy and education counsellor. His career, his decision to come back and settle in his native village, his reflexions on a mercantile word are good enough reasons to listen to him. The simplicity of his words let us discover another Sahel than the one we are used to being told of, always shown with drama. His chair is now unoccupied but his soul is still floating above the Sahel of Songhaïs.
